Anne Dechter

VP, Legal & Deputy General Counsel at Center for American Progress Action Fund

Anne Dechter is vice president of the Legal team and deputy general counsel at American Progress. She most recently served as a deputy associate counsel for presidential personnel at the Obama White House, where she vetted candidates for presidential appointments and nominations. Prior to her position at the White House, Dechter worked in the Washington, D.C., office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where she spent three years as a litigation associate. She has also worked as a writer and editor at various local and national publications, including The Chronicle of Philanthropy. Dechter grew up on a farm in Joppa, Maryland, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University and a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.
