Carl Chancellor has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. carl began their career in 1975 as an Associate Editor and Reporter for the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials. From 1978 to 1980, they worked as a Public Affairs Specialist for the National Caucus and Center on the Black Aged, reporting and editing stories about issues affecting African-American seniors. Chancellor then took on the role of Communications Specialist at Case Western Reserve University from 1980 to 1983, where they directed editorial content for the alumni magazine and promoted university events. carl also worked for the Cleveland Call & Post as an Editorial Writer during this time. From 1983 to 2008, Chancellor worked at the Akron Beacon Journal, where they held various reporting positions and wrote a Pulitzer Prize-winning series on race relations. carl joined Turner Government and Public Affairs in 2008 as a Writer/Editor Communications Strategist before moving on to Change.org in 2010 as a Blogger. In 2010, Chancellor also became an Adjunct Professor of Journalism at Howard University. carl is currently the Director of Editorial at the Center for American Progress, a position they have held since 2012.
