Senior Vice President, Inclusive Growth at Center for American Progress

Emily Gee has a diverse work experience in economic and health policy roles. Emily currently holds the position of Senior Vice President, Inclusive Growth at the Center for American Progress since February 2023. Prior to that, they served as Vice President and Coordinator, Health Policy, Senior Fellow, Senior Economist, and Senior Economist at the same organization. Emily Gee has also worked as a Health Economist at the Center for American Progress from February 2017 to January 2021. Before joining the organization, they worked as an Economist at the US Department of Health and Human Services from May 2013 to February 2017. Additionally, Emily Gee has experience as an Intern/Program Analyst at the US Department of Health and Human Services and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Emily has also worked as an Economist at the Council of Economic Advisers at The White House from August 2016 to January 2017. Prior to their roles in policy, Emily Gee worked as an Instructor/Teaching Fellow at Boston University and as the Copy Desk Chief at The Moscow Times. Emily also served as the Coordinator for the Center for International Media Assistance at the National Endowment for Democracy.

Emily Gee obtained their Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) degree in Government from Harvard University in the years 2000 to 2004. Following this, they pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Political Economy at Boston University from 2007 to 2010. Emily then furthered their education at Boston University, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Economics from 2007 to 2014.
