Lauren Santa Cruz has extensive experience in the field of digital creative and multimedia journalism. Lauren has held various roles throughout their career, showcasing their skills in designing, producing, and editing visual content.

Lauren started their career as a Video Editor and Digital Producer at the Knight Center for International Media, where they worked on projects aimed at promoting social integration and countering stereotypes of marginalized communities. Lauren also collaborated with native teams in countries such as Haiti, Bulgaria, and the Czech Republic, producing high-quality multimedia projects.

In 2011, Lauren joined the Special Olympics as an Official Documentary Crew member, responsible for photography, videography, and editing. Lauren continued to gain experience in the media field by interning at Time Magazine as a Digital Video Production/Editing Intern.

Lauren's career then took their to the Center for American Progress, where they held positions as a Digital Video Producer/Editor and later as a Director and Senior Director of Digital Creative at CAP Action. In these roles, they built and managed teams, established a social media-first production strategy, and created custom content for prominent figures such as Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and George Takei.

Prior to their time at the Center for American Progress, Lauren worked as an Associate Director of Creative at The Hub Project, where they were responsible for crafting and overseeing visual content for national and state campaign teams and partner organizations.

Lauren's educational background includes a Masters in Multimedia Journalism from the University of Miami School of Communication. During their studies, they had the opportunity to collaborate with local teams in the Dominican Republic, India, Bulgaria, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.

Lauren Santa Cruz obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Photography from the University of Miami from 2005 to 2009. Lauren later pursued a Master of Arts degree in Multimedia Journalism from the same university, attending from 2009 to 2010. In 2008, Lauren briefly studied Psychology at the University of Sussex. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Pilgrim Hostile Environment Training from the Pilgrims Group in May 2015.
