Vanja Kovac is a seasoned expert in gender issues and human rights, currently serving as a Gender Adviser at the Center for Civilians in Conflict since November 2021. Prior roles include a Consultant in the Gender and Security Division at DCAF, and a Gender Adviser at the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights. Additionally, Vanja Kovac worked as a Programme Officer on Gender Issues with OSCE and held various positions in the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, including Communities Policy Officer. An academic background includes a role as a Professor of International and EU Human Rights Law at the American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Previous experience encompasses serving as a Gender Officer and Democratic Governance Officer for ODIHR, as well as undertaking consultancy work with UNWomen and the Agency for Gender Equality in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Vanja Kovac’s expertise is further highlighted by training on Gender-Based Violence through INFoundation and drafting critical gender assessments for national contexts.
