Rescue Operations Manager at Center for Coastal Studies (Provincetown, MA)

Robert Lynch has extensive experience in marine mammal research and conservation. Robert began their career as an intern at Ocean Alliance in 2008. Robert then volunteered at the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies, where they assisted in humpback whale research and identification. Lynch also served as an intern for the Right Whale Research Program, where they recorded vessel, gear, and marine mammal sightings and photographed right whales.

Lynch's work experience includes roles such as a volunteer and research assistant at the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies, where they participated in large whale and sea turtle disentanglement responses and assisted in humpback whale population studies. Robert also volunteered for the International Fund for Animal Welfare, assisting with stranded and dead marine mammals.

In 2013, Lynch joined the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies as a Rescue Operations Manager, focusing on marine animal entanglement response and humpback whale population studies. Robert later worked as a Natural Resources Specialist II and III for the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, conducting aerial surveys and data collection of marine mammals in the Arctic.

Throughout their career, Lynch has been involved in satellite tagging, data entry, database maintenance, and photo documentation/cataloging. Robert has a strong background in marine mammal rescue, research, and conservation.

Robert Lynch obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from the University of New Hampshire, where they studied from 2005 to 2009. Robert also holds additional certifications such as Level 5 Large Whale Disentanglement from NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, obtained in June 2021, and an Aircraft Ditching Course and Emergency Breathing Systems Course from Survival Systems USA Inc., obtained in December 2010. Robert has additional certifications in 24-Hr HAZWOPER, Adult First Aid/CPR, ICS-100, ICS-200 from various institutions, and Marine Off-Shore Survival training from Learn to Return Training Systems Inc. The exact dates of obtaining these certifications are not provided.
