Kristan Cilente Skendall has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Kristan is currently the Chief Operating Officer at the Center for Expanding Leadership & Opportunity. Before this, they worked at the University of Maryland, where they held multiple positions, including Affiliate Assistant Professor, Associate Director of the Gemstone Program, and Doctoral Student. Additionally, they were the Coordinator for Community Service-Learning during their Ph.D. studies. Kristan also served as a Senior Program Manager at The Aspen Institute and as a Lead Facilitator at LeaderShape, Inc. In addition, they worked as an Assistant Director at ACPA-College Student Educators International and as a Doctoral Intern at the U.S. Department of Education. Before that, they were a Graduate Coordinator at the National Clearinghouse for Leadership Programs and a Doctoral Intern at ACPA. Kristan started their career at Georgetown University as the Assistant Director of Orientation and Leadership Programs.
Kristan Cilente Skendall completed a Ph.D. in College Student Personnel from the University of Maryland from 2006 to 2012. Prior to that, from 2001 to 2003, they obtained an MA in Higher Education Administration from the University of Arizona. They also earned a BA in Sociology and History from William & Mary from 1997 to 2001.
