Ian Gray-Stack

Community School Director, William H. Taft Educational Campus, New York City at Center for Supportive Schools

Ian Gray-Stack is the Community School Director working with the William H. Taft Educational Campus in New York City. As a Community School Director, he is responsible for the day-to-day management of the community school strategy in collaboration with school leadership and community partners. Ian is working with three campus high schools to design and create collectively an aspiring holistic, trauma-informed, anti-racist school community for families and staff. Prior to joining CSS, Ian was a professional community organizer working with schools, churches, and non-profits to develop grassroots leadership and take effective action on priority issues. He has organized with landless farmers in Northeast Brazil, public housing residents in the South Bronx, recent immigrants in Western Queens, and, most recently, served as the Director of Community Organizing at Banana Kelly Community Improvement Association, a non-profit mutual housing association in Hunts Point. Ian holds a master’s degree in urban policy and leadership from Hunter College and earned a dual bachelor’s degree in philosophy and literature from Purchase College.
