Tonya Larson's work experience begins in 2004 when they worked as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at Avera Health. In 2007, they became a Team Lead at Minnetonka Clinic Laboratory at Park Nicollet Health Services. Larson then worked as an Operations Supervisor at Physicians Reference Laboratory in 2008. Tonya later became a Patient Care Services Supervisor at the same company. In 2011, Larson joined Providence Healthcare Network as an Organizational Process Development Coordinator. Tonya then worked as a Contractor - HR Business Operational Readiness / ICD-10 Rollout / CDIP program analyst at Seton Healthcare Family in 2012. From 2014 to 2016, Larson was a Senior Consultant at Leidos Health Consulting. Currently, they are the Human Resource Information System Manager at CentraCare, and from 2023, they will serve as the Director of HR Experience.

Tonya Larson has a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from the University of Cincinnati, which they obtained from 2005 to 2008. Tonya also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Health/Health Care Administration/Management from Baylor University, completed from 2019 to 2020. In addition, they have completed a Masters Certificate in Black Belt Lean Six Sigma and a Certificate in Lean Six Sigma from Villanova University in 2010. Tonya Larson's earliest educational achievement is an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from the Medical Institute of Minnesota, earned from 1993 to 1995.
