Garegin Gevorgyan

Garegin Gevorgyan has an extensive work experience in the financial industry. Currently, they serve as the Director of the Financial Stability Directorate at the Central Bank of Armenia. In addition, they hold various positions as a member of the Supervisory Board in companies such as Armenian Stock Exchange, "STAK MONEY TRANSFER" CJSC, and Apartments For Youth RCO CJSC.

Furthermore, Garegin has held leadership roles in different organizations. Garegin was the Chief Executive Officer at SEF International UCO LLC, where they led the digital transformation of the microfinance company and achieved significant improvements in loan portfolio quality. Prior to that, they served as the Global Director of Small and Growing Business at VisionFund International, focusing on growing a USD 100 million portfolio in VisionFund MFIs worldwide.

Garegin Gevorgyan has also contributed to the educational field as a Visiting Lecturer at the College of Business and Economics at the American University of Armenia. Additionally, they have served as a member of the Board of Directors at the Black Sea Trade & Development Bank (BSTDB) and the Supervisory Board at the National Mortgage Company RCO CJSC.

Throughout their career, Garegin Gevorgyan has demonstrated expertise in financial stability, leadership, digital transformation, portfolio management, and corporate governance.

Garegin Gevorgyan has a strong educational background in economics, finance, and general management. Garegin obtained their Ph.D. in Economics and Finance from Yerevan State University in the period of 1996-1999. Prior to that, they completed their Masters in Economics at the same university from 1991 to 1996.

Gevorgyan further enhanced their knowledge and skills by pursuing an MBA with Distinction in Finance at Hofstra University from 2000 to 2001.

In 2016, Gevorgyan attended the General Management Program at Harvard Business School, where they refined their expertise in the field of General Management.

Aside from their formal education, Gevorgyan has also obtained several certifications to supplement their professional qualifications. In 2008, they earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute. Garegin later acquired the IFC Digilab Finance certification from the IFC - International Finance Corporation in August 2021. More recently, in December 2022, they achieved the CFA Institute PL Program 15-Year Milestone Badge.
