Carina Mónico is an experienced imaging scientist currently employed at the Centre of Marine Sciences (CCMAR) in Portugal, where responsibilities include establishing a Microscopy Platform and enhancing access to advanced imaging technologies. Prior to this role, Carina served as Assistant Manager at the Micron Oxford Advanced Bioimaging Unit from April 2017 to May 2023, focusing on user training for various imaging systems, system maintenance, and providing research support across the University of Oxford. Carina's research background includes postdoctoral fellowships at King's College London and the University of Oxford, specializing in single-molecule biophysics of cell membranes, as well as a role at LENS, where expertise in ultrafast force-clamp spectroscopy was developed. Educational qualifications include a postdoctoral degree in Optical Microscopy from the University of Oxford, a PhD in Single-molecule biophysics from LENS, and a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Universidade de Coimbra.
