Mark H Garrett is an accomplished optical engineering professional with extensive experience in leadership and research roles across multiple companies. Currently serving as the Director of Optical Engineering at Cepheid since July 2021, Mark previously held significant positions such as Principal Optical Engineer at Paramit Corporation and BaySpec Inc. Experience includes roles as Director of MicroOptics at both II-VI Incorporated and OCLARO, along with contributions as a Senior Optical Engineer at Molecular Devices and Thermo Electron. Mark’s career began with innovative research at Capella Photonics, Inc. and OBTi, focusing on optical design and development. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Electrical Engineering and a postdoctoral degree in Optical Information Processing and Optical Materials from the University of Southern California and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, respectively.
