Dirk Hackbarth is a Professor and Associate Professor of Finance at the Questrom School of Business, Boston University, where tenure began in July 2013. In addition to this role, Dirk serves as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research and as a Research Associate at the European Corporate Governance Institute, both since 2017. Prior academic positions include Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2008-2013), and earlier roles as Assistant Professor of Finance at Olin Business School (2005-2008) and Kelley School of Business (2003-2005). Dirk's professional experience includes summer associate positions at Bain & Company and UBS Investment Bank. Dirk earned a PhD in Finance from the University of California, Berkeley, an MSc in Economics from The London School of Economics, and a Diplom in Business from the University of Cologne.
