Astro Teller has held various roles throughout their work experience. Astro began their career as a Fellow at the Fannie & John Hertz Foundation in 1994. Astro then served as the CEO of SANDbOX Advanced Development from 1998 to 1999. In 1999, they joined BodyMedia, where they held multiple positions including CEO, Chairman, and Director until 2013. In 2005, they joined the Pittsburgh Technology Council's Board of Directors, serving until 2008. From 2006 to 2010, they served as Chairman of Zivio Technologies. In 2007, they became the Director and later the Chief Executive Officer of Cerebellum Capital, Inc until 2010. Finally, in 2010, they joined X, the moonshot factory as the Captain of Moonshots.

Astro Teller pursued their education at Stanford University from 1988 to 1993, where they successfully completed both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Science. Following this, they enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University from 1993 to 1998, where they obtained their PhD in Computer Science.
