Born and raised in Carlsbad, NM, Deborah Woodward has been a family and consumer sciences educator for more than 30 years. Woodward taught for Carlsbad Municipal School District, Ysleta ISD in El Paso, TX and East Central ISD in San Antonio, TX.
Woodward taught a range of courses, including lifetime nutrition and wellness child development, interior design and fashion design. She had a hand in writing an Achieve Texas grant, which was instrumental in starting the Culinary Arts program at East Central High School. Her favorite part of teaching was working with students, especially in Family, Career & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE).
Since retirement, Woodward worked with the Statewide Instructional Resources Development Center as a Curriculum Specialist before joining the iCEV team.
“She understand the value of providing up-to-date, relevant teaching materials to Career & Technical Educators. Some teachers have minimal equipment and resources to teach with. She believe iCEV can adequately fill that gap. She like the personal attention she can provide to the CTE teachers,” says Woodward.
Woodward enjoys working with CTE teachers. “She teach courses that are relevant to the students. She understand the value and impact of the courses have on students, the family unit, community and society,” says Woodard. She considerers teaching for 32 years in a field that is so vital to the success of individuals one of her greatest accomplishments.
