Nico Espinoza

Research Technician at Champalimaud Foundation

Nico Espinoza is a Research Technician at the Champalimaud Foundation since September 2023, where responsibilities include designing and building circuits and real-time interactive systems for neural data visualization and analysis. Previously, Nico served as a Founding Lab Member at Ars Electronica and held various roles including Sound Designer at Matters of Activity. Image Space Material, Co-curator and Direction Assistant at Festival Multiplicidade, and worked on art direction and curatorial research in the Transmedia Lab of Festival Conexidade. With a research background in machine learning applications to music composition at COPPE/UFRJ and experience as an artist-researcher at Creative Lab, Nico is currently pursuing a PhD in Digital Media at NOVA FCSH and holds a Master of Arts in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts from Universität der Künste Berlin, along with engineering degrees from Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria. Further educational pursuits are ongoing at Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg and the University of Buenos Aires.
