Amrita Ray

Amrita Ray serves as the Director of Data Science, Data Engineering & AI/ML for EdTech at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative since July 2019, where leadership involves managing data science and engineering teams to enhance K-12 educational products. Prior to this role, Amrita held the position of Senior Data Science Manager at Microsoft from October 2014 to May 2019, focusing on user retention and engagement within Microsoft Teams and Skype through machine learning and network graph models. Amrita's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Pittsburgh and a postgraduate degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley, along with earlier studies at the Indian Statistical Institute. Previous roles encompass a Research Scientist at Stanford University and a Statistician at St. Jude Medical, demonstrating a robust foundation in statistical modeling and analysis.
