Christopher Sifuentes is a seasoned professional in computational biology and bioinformatics, currently serving as the Computational Biology Program Manager for Neurodegeneration at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative since September 2020. Prior to this role, Christopher worked as a Bioinformatics Scientist at Takara Bio USA, Inc., and spent nearly a decade at the University of Michigan, where responsibilities included conducting complex bioinformatic analyses, designing experiments in collaboration with clients, and creating NGS pipelines across various programming languages. Notably, Christopher's expertise encompasses single-cell RNA-sequencing, CRISPR/Cas mutation screening, and data integration of genomic and epigenomic datasets. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and a Master’s in Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics from the University of Michigan, along with a Bachelor’s in Biology from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Christopher also has experience teaching laboratory courses to undergraduate students, bridging scientific concepts effectively.
