A.G. Spanos

President, Business Operations at Los Angeles Chargers

A.G. Spanos was named President of Business Operations for the Chargers in May 2015 and is responsible for all day-to-day operations, including marketing, sales, communications, digital media and community relations. He also represents the organization at NFL and ownership meetings.

Previously, Spanos served as executive vice president–chief executive officer from 2011-15, executive vice president—executive officer from 2008-10, and director of marketing programs and business development from 2003-07.

Under Spanos' direction, over the past several seasons, the organization has made significant investments in its gameday and training camp venues, team headquarters and in business personnel staffing. In 2017 alone, the Chargers secured space for both a new training camp site and a new practice facility in Costa Mesa. The team's training camp home, Jack Hammett Sports Complex, underwent extensive field modifications to bring it up to NFL standards. The field improvements, however, were not just for the Chargers – for the 10 months of the year when the Chargers aren't utilizing the facility for training camp, it is available to be enjoyed by the entire community. Additionally, extensive renovations went into the team's new training facility, Hoag Performance Center. The contemporary facility, which continues to evolve and expand, provides the Chargers with the latest in technology and equipment while housing more than 150 full-time employees, not including players. Since moving into Hoag Performance Center, Spanos has continued to operate with an eye towards the future – increasing the non-football headcount by over 30 employees and creating several key positions in areas such as fan experience, marketing, analytics, cultural affairs, human resources and digital media.

Throughout his tenure, Spanos has worked to ensure that a commitment to winning on the field and making a positive impact in the community have remained the two most important organizational constants. In 2017, the Chargers participated in more than 150 community events in Los Angeles from July through December – averaging out to nearly 25 each month. That same year, on behalf of the Chargers and his family, Spanos oversaw a $500,000 donation to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts and corresponding food and supply drive prior to the team's Week 1 contest at Denver. Months later, the Chargers made a $250,000 donation to the American Red Cross in support of California Wildfire relief. Not long after being recognized as Humanitarian Organization of the Year by the Red Cross, in November of 2018, the Chargers made yet another $250,000 donation in support of victims suffering from yet another devastating wildfire season.

Outside of the building, since 2017, Spanos has been a proud member GenNext, an organization focused on the most pressing challenges facing future generations. Additionally, he is a member of the Los Angeles chapter of Young President's Organization (YPO) and the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Commission.

Spanos played football as a freshman at Tufts University in Medford, Mass., before returning to California to continue his education at the University of Southern California, where he earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from the Marshall School of Business.

Spanos is the eldest son of Controlling Owner and Chairman of the Board Dean Spanos and his wife, Susie. He and his wife, Kamri, reside in Laguna Beach with their three sons.
