Director Of Applied Sports Science at Charlotte Hornets

Dr. Daniel Taylor has a diverse work experience in the field of sports science and conditioning. Dr. Daniel is currently serving as the Director of Applied Sports Science at the Charlotte Hornets. Prior to this, they worked as a Course Instructor at the Georgia Institute of Technology and was responsible for vertically integrated projects.

In 2016, Dr. Taylor joined the Georgia Tech Athletic Association as a Player Development Coach for the Men's Basketball team. Dr. Daniel played a crucial role in developing and executing the team's high-performance strategy, providing individualized training strategies based on scientific data.

Before that, they served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Siena College, where they worked closely with the Basketball staff, focusing on injury prevention and using evidence-based methodology to monitor the team's strength and movement quality.

Additionally, Dr. Taylor worked as an Author for Human Kinetics, where they contributed to the field of sports science literature. Dr. Daniel also gained experience as an Assistant Fitness Director at Golds Gym - Clifton Park and as a Strength and Conditioning Intern at The College of Saint Rose.

Dr. Daniel Taylor has a diverse education history. Dr. Daniel received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Performance Psychology from Grand Canyon University from 2015 to 2019. In 2019, they also obtained a certificate in Business Analytics from Harvard Business School Online. Prior to that, they earned a M.Sc in Exercise Science (Strength & Conditioning) from Edith Cowan University from 2008 to 2011, and another M.Sc in Exercise Science (Hons.) from PennWest California from 2004 to 2006. Their undergraduate education includes a B.A. in History (Hons.) from Franklin Pierce University from 2000 to 2002 and an A.A. in Social Science and Humanities from Schenectady County Community College from 1998 to 2000. Lastly, they completed their high school education at Harrogate Grammar School and obtained a High School Diploma. Dr. Taylor also holds additional certifications as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and as a Performance Enhancement Specialist from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
