Samuel Perales

Software Engineer II at CharterUP

Samuel Perales has a diverse work experience. In 2022, they began working as a Software Engineer I at CharterUP, where they developed and improved features using TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and Vue across four of the company's web based services for booking and managing transportation reservations across North America. Samuel also extended the company's microservices with Java, Spring, Hibernate, and SQL, and contributed to both frontend design decisions and API changes for new features. In 2021, Samuel worked as a Student Researcher at the Texas Experimental Geometry Lab, where they led a team of four undergraduates throughout a long-term project, developed novel algorithms for computational proofs of high level mathematical statements of interest, and designed and documented interactive web applications for the research site. Samuel also worked as a Student Researcher at Arizona State University, where they led a team of undergraduates through multiple projects under a National Science Foundation grant, designed and optimized mathematically stochastic models for predicting social insect behavior, and developed an interactive Python GUI for researchers to collect data with. From 2019-2020, Samuel worked as an Undergraduate Assistant and STEM Tutor at the Sanger Learning Center, where they tutored Math, Physics, and Computer Science by appointment and at the drop-in tutoring center. Finally, in 2020, they worked as a Student Researcher at Harvey Mudd College, where they designed, coded, constructed, and tested a working 3D printed microscope and contributed to the UC2 optical open-standard. Samuel also implemented Fourier Pytchographic Microscopy algorithm in Python for combining low-resolution input images into a super-resolution output image, and further implemented EPRY-FPM for correcting chromatic aberrations and a multiplex FPM model for optimized image recovery.

Samuel Perales attended The University of Texas at Austin from 2018 to 2022, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. In 2023, they obtained an Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS).
