"Drake" is a graduate of the Australian Command and General Staff College. He holds a Master's degree in management from the University Utara Malaysia (UUM). "Drake" retired in 2017 after having served more than 35 years on active duty as a Malaysian Army field artillery officer, holding a variety of command, staff and instructional positions.

"Drake" commanded a field artillery regiment. has served as a staff officer in a Divisional Artillery Headquarters, assigned as a military doctrine developer at the Army Training and Doctrine Command and instructed students at the Malaysian Army Combat Training Centre and

Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College. He has been commended for his service to the United Nations, both as a military observer and subsequently a principal staff officer in a planning team that was responsible for the security of Bunia Town in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in 2003.

He has experience working under strenuous and hazardous conditions while conducting military operations in the Malaysian jungle to neutralize insurgents during Second Malayan Emergency in the 805. He gained similar experience when deployed in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2003 to plan and conduct combat missions to enforce peace.

"Drake" has excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills and is able to develop and implement effective action plans. He is a good communicator with more than 18 years of experience as a military instructor.
