James Trenta, P.E. has a wide range of work experience in the field of engineering. James started their career at Babcock & Wilcox Co. as a Stress Engineer in the Mechanical Design Department from 1984 to 1988. James then joined Chemstress Consultant Co. as a Civil/Structural Engineer and eventually became the Civil/Structural Department Manager in 1997. James worked in this role until 2001 when they joined Wheaton & Sprague Engineering as the Vice President of Building Structures/Forensics. In 2009, they worked briefly as a Structural Engineer at Louis Perry & Associates, Inc. and then joined Kent State University as an Instructor for structural courses from 2010 to 2014. In 2010, they established their own firm, Trenta Engineering Consultants, where they worked as the Owner until 2018. Currently, they are serving as the Vice President of Engineering at Chemstress Consultant Company since August 2021.

James Trenta, P.E. earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil Engineering from The University of Akron, which they attended from 1978 to 1983. Prior to this, they completed their high school education at Norton High School between 1974 and 1978. James later pursued higher education and obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Civil Engineering from The University of Akron, a program they completed from 1986 to 1987.
