Job Summary:

The Director of Community Engagement and Development oversees all of the organizations fundraising efforts and manages relationships with the school’s financial supports. Additionally, this role will assume the responsibility as the schools primary Grant Writer for large scale school grant initiatives. Other responsibilities will include direct oversight of grant project teams, strategizing and executing events, engaging with current and past donors to foster continued support, and actively pursuing opportunities for financial support through grants and sponsorships.

Community Engagement Essential Functions:

  • Use sales and spending cycles to guide fundraising campaign decisions
  • Find ideal donors from public and private investors
  • Construct graphs and reports to convey their strategies and needs
  • Develop new donor relationships and steward ongoing relationships
  • Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and other community partners
  • Develop and steward ongoing relationships with major donors
  • Develop a long-term plan that will support building a sustained base of annual donors
  • Oversee the planning of special events
  • Develop and monitor proposals for all foundation, corporate fundraising, and community outreach; create documents and reports that track the data
  • Generate donor communications, newsletters, and annual reports
  • Assist in the creation of print, digital, and social media content
  • Network and maintain regular correspondence with the various donors
  • Continuously steward existing donors while cultivating relationships with prospects
  • Collaborate with appropriate school staff in order to expand and develop relationships with school alumni

 

Grant Writing and Project Management Essential Functions:

  • Develop and manage projects, all budgets, scope of work, and supporting resources
  • Develop resources, research funding sources, and write proposals to a variety of organizations
  • Prepare contract proposals in accordance with business goals and objectives, administer major contracts and documents, may negotiate contractual provisions with potential partners
  • Monitor and analyze risks associated with projects and determine potential implications should they manifest
  • Monitor and report on the project budget
  • Manage project resources to ensure progress is being made
  • Regulate vendor management and procurement of services and/or resources
  • Negotiate vendor contracts
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications
  • Manage stakeholder expectations

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • A minimum of two (2) years in prior development and fundraising role
  • Experience with event planning
  • Experience in soliciting donations from both corporate and private donors
  • Experience in a non-profit environment
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
  • Management or leadership experience preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the grant writing process and the associated application process
  • Work on-site a minimum of three (3) days per week and a minimum of two (2) days per week working in the field cultivating relationships
  • Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check Clearance
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
  • FBI Criminal Background Clearance

  • Assessing the impact and viability of a funding opportunity
  • Making critical decisions about funding opportunities to determine their value
  • Critical thinking methodologies and problem-solving techniques relative to school programming and organizational structure when planning, writing, and implementing school advancement and grant funding opportunities
  • Researching grant opportunities locally, statewide, and countrywide

  • Monitor and track development efforts and maintain donor database
  • Stay current with best practices in non-profit fundraising, including emerging trends, regulations, and compliance requirements
