Lead Conservation Scientist at Chester Zoo

Leah Williams is a Lead Conservation Scientist at Chester Zoo since September 2015, with a career that spans various roles including Conservation Scientist and Scientific Officer, where responsibilities included coordinating research activities and leading science communication efforts. Leah also serves as the Vice-chair of the EAZA Population Management Advisory Group and coordinates the EEP for the blue-throated macaw. Prior experience includes roles at RSPB as a Conservation Scientist and Research Assistant, managing projects and conducting fieldwork, alongside teaching and supporting students at Liverpool John Moores University. Educated with a PhD in Animal Behavior and Ethology from Liverpool John Moores University, a Master of Research in Biodiversity and Conservation from the University of Leeds, and a BSc in Zoology from the University of Liverpool, Leah demonstrates a strong commitment to conservation and scientific research.
