Samantha White has a diverse and extensive work experience. Samantha is currently the Managing Director at the Child Mind Institute since 2023. Prior to that, they served as the Scientific and Public Engagement Branch Chief at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) from 2020 to 2023.
From 2014 to 2020, Samantha worked at the National Institutes of Health, where they held various positions, including Science Communication and Coordination Specialist at NINDS, responsible for communicating institute activities and initiatives to researchers and scientific audiences. Samantha also served as an NINDS AAAS Science/Technology Policy Fellow, where they played a role in communicating institute activities and facilitating communication between participating institutes for the NIH BRAIN Initiative.
Additionally, Samantha worked at AAAS as a Strategic Advisor and Program Director for the Emerging Leaders in Science and Society program, focusing on leadership skills and collaboration. Samantha also served as the Emerging Leaders in Science and Society Campus Liaison, overseeing program policies and communication with the University of Pennsylvania.
Furthermore, Samantha gained experience as a Science Policy Fellow at Research!America, where they tracked policy issues, conducted research, and provided administrative and project management support.
Samantha's career in research began as a Post-Baccalaureate Intramural Research Training Awardee at the National Institutes of Health in 2006. Samantha later joined the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine's Neuroscience Graduate Group from 2008 to 2013.
Samantha White completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology at Emory University from 2002 to 2006. Samantha continued their education at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine from 2008 to 2013, where they earned a PhD in Neuroscience with a focus on Addiction.
