David Downing has over 10 years of professional experience. David started their career in 2005 as a Technical Support Intern at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In 2007, they worked as an Assistant for the Roman Triumph Project at Rice University Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations Department. In 2008, they worked as a Classical Architecture Intern at Eric Stengel Architecture and a Research and Editing Assistant at Rice University Humanities Research Center. From 2010 to 2012, they worked at KPMG as a Contract Compliance Intern and at Jennifer Jaime, CPA as a Tax Team Member. In 2012, they joined Alvarez & Marsal as a Consultant. In 2014, they started working at Southwest Airlines, first as a Business Consultant - FP&A Economic & Industry Analysis Team, then as a Senior Auditor, and then as an Auditor II. In 2018, they joined Work America Capital as a Manager of Financial Analysis & Performance Improvement. Finally, in 2019, they co-founded ChipMonk Baking, where they currently serve as the Co-Founder and CEO.

David Downing obtained a BA in Economics and Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations from Rice University between 2006 and 2010. David then attended the Texas McCombs School of Business from 2011 to 2012, earning a Master's degree in Accounting. Prior to that, they attended Montgomery Bell Academy from 2000 to 2006. In December 2014, they obtained a Certified Internal Auditor certification from The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc.
