Legal Counsel
Position Overview:
Located in the Company’s Calgary head office, the Legal Counsel must have strong communication and facilitation skills with experience in a fast-paced, highly focused environment. Reporting to the CFO she/he will implement the required governance tools and infrastructure to ensure an efficient and speedy processing of contract documentation and associated support services. This position may assist with strategic opportunity evaluation and provide legal expertise and risk analysis in contractual negotiations and documentation. In this capacity, the individual will ensure continuous quality improvement while striving to deliver a superb experience for our internal and external customers alike.
Please note that this position is located in Calgary and that there is no relocation funding available.
General Responsibilities:

Maintain an efficient process to complete agreement reviews, negotiation processes and agreement execution
Facilitate agreement reviews with the relevant parties, internally & externally
Work with the legal department to maintain the ‘Contract Files’ for the organization including but not limited to TnCs, SLAs, BAAs, Insurance Certificates, NDAs, CDAs, Distributor, OEM Partners, or Third-Party Agreements
Liaise with external legal counsel as needed and directed by the CFO
Respond to and assist with all legal components directed to the Corporate office as it relate to all Requests for ProposalsQuotation, Tenders and associated documents
Author, review and maintain the Company’s Consulting Agreements with Consultants or other service providers
Perform research for and updating of Corporate Policies
Enforce the necessary governance to assess business continuity, risk management, quality control, etc.
Coordinate the resolution of contentious points and issues
Be a role model for the Company culture

Educational and Professional Requirements:
Business or Commerce degree
Legal degree, Corporate law, experience in Labor or Employment specialties are beneficial but not required
Must be designated as a barrister and solicitor
Must be an active registered member of the Law Society of Alberta
