Jamie Huq has a diverse and extensive work history. They started their career at the Law Office of Greg Gladden where they worked as a Law Clerk, handling tasks such as drafting legal memorandums and motions, conducting client interviews, and analyzing evidence. From there, they moved on to the United Nations, working as a Law Clerk for the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY), where they supported lead attorneys in developing defense strategies for cases involving genocide, mass rape, and torture. Following this, they worked as an Associate Attorney at Prince & Associates, primarily drafting asylum and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) briefs for submission to U.S. immigration courts. They then transitioned to JD Myers & Associates as the Owner and Principal Attorney, managing a broad-based solo practice focused on family law cases. Currently, Jamie Huq holds a position at the Circuit Attorney's Office, where they have served first as an Assistant Circuit Attorney for prosecutor-led diversion programs and now as the Chief Misdemeanor Officer, overseeing the handling of probation revocation hearings, termination and sentencing hearings, and acting as the main point of contact with probation and parole, community partners, therapists, and the private defense bar.
Jamie Huq began their education by earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Houston in 2002. They then pursued a Juris Doctor (JD) degree in Law from South Texas College of Law Houston, completing this program from 2002 to 2005. In 2003, Jamie also engaged in an ABA Accredited Course of Study on International and Comparative Human Rights Law at the Irish Centre of Human Rights at the University of Galway, specializing in International Law and Legal Studies.
In terms of additional certifications, Jamie obtained a License To Practice Law In Missouri from the State Bar of Missouri in April 2019. They also received the License to Practice Law in Texas from the State Bar of Texas in February 2006. Most recently, in December 2021, Jamie completed the Prosecution Leaders of Now program offered by the Stanford GSB Executive Education.
