Filip Hanzely

Filip Hanzely has a diverse work experience in the fields of quantitative research, academia, and mathematics. Filip is currently working as a Quantitative Researcher at Citadel Securities, a position they started in June 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Wincent as a Quantitative Researcher from September 2021 to May 2023.

Before transitioning into the finance industry, Filip held several academic positions. Filip was a Research Assistant Professor at the Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago from December 2020 to August 2021. Prior to that, they were a PhD Student at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology from September 2017 to December 2020.

Filip also gained industry experience through internships at Google and Amazon. Filip worked as a Research Intern (Machine learning) at Google from July 2019 to October 2019, and as an Applied Science Intern (Machine Learning) at Amazon from June 2018 to September 2018. Additionally, they were a Visiting PhD Student at Microsoft Research in October and November 2018.

In terms of their education, Filip holds a Master's degree by research from The University of Edinburgh, which they completed from September 2016 to August 2017.

In their earlier years, Filip was involved in the Slovak Mathematical Olympiad, where they served as a Coordinator and Lecturer. Filip was responsible for coordinating regional and national rounds, as well as team selection camps. Filip also delivered lectures at preparation camps for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) and the Central European Mathematical Olympiad (MEMO).

Furthermore, Filip gained research experience as a Research Assistant at the Slovak Academy of Sciences in July and August 2015.

Filip Hanzely's education history began in 2013 when they enrolled at Univerzita Komenského v Bratislave. From 2013 to 2016, they pursued a Bakalář (Bc.) degree in Economic and Financial Mathematics. After completing their undergraduate studies, they joined The University of Edinburgh in 2016 for a Master's degree in Mathematics and Statistics, which they completed in 2017. Following this, Filip Hanzely pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Optimization/Machine Learning at KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) from 2017 to 2020.
