Hanwen Xu started their work experience in 2009 as a Research intern at the National Institutes of Health. In 2010, they worked as an Undergraduate Researcher at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Hanwen then went on to work as an Associate Analyst at Altimeter Capital in 2012. In 2013, Hanwen had two internships, one at Bank of America as a Sales and Trading Intern and the other at Citadel LLC as an Investment and Trading Intern. In 2014, they joined Susquehanna International Group, LLP (SIG) as an Assistant Trader. Hanwen then worked at Citadel Securities as a Quantitative Researcher starting in 2015. Throughout their work experience, Hanwen also pursued their education, completing a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at MIT from 2010 to 2014.

Hanwen Xu's education history begins in 2006 when they attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. After completing their secondary education there in 2010, they went on to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2010 to 2014. Following their undergraduate studies, Hanwen Xu enrolled at the University of Chicago in 2023 as a Graduate Student at Large, specializing in Financial Mathematics.
