Martijn Bakker began their work experience in 2013 as a Teaching Assistant and Course Developer at the University of Twente. In this role, they guided laboratory work, taught self-study sessions, gave lectures, created assignments, and checked tests. Martijn worked on two Advanced Technology modules and helped design a Computer Science module, with a focus on Concurrent Programming.
In 2013, Bakker also served as a Board Member for the Musica Silvestra Orkest, the student symphony orchestra of the University of Twente. Martijn was responsible for selecting music, arranging substitutes, distributing music to members, and organizing concert locations and rehearsal weekends.
In 2016, Bakker joined Jump Trading LLC as a Software Engineering Intern for a period of two months. Later that year, they joined Citadel Securities as a Software Engineer, and the duration of this role is ongoing.
Martijn Bakker's education history begins in 2012 when they enrolled at the University of Twente. Martijn completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Advanced Technology in 2015. Before completing their undergraduate degree, they took part in the International Summer School program at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2014, focusing on Business. Following their bachelor's degree, Martijn pursued a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Advanced Computer Science at the University of Cambridge from 2015 to 2016.
