Ethan Chen has a diverse work experience in the field of quantitative research and teaching. Xiaolei (Ethan) started their career as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at the University of Science and Technology of China and the University at Buffalo, respectively. During their time at these institutions, they conducted research on numerical simulations and game ranking systems.
Ethan then worked as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at Stony Brook University, where they built a simulator for a three-dimensional rigid body model and utilized parallel computing tools for improved efficiency. Xiaolei (Ethan) also took on the role of a Teaching Assistant at the University at Buffalo.
In 2016, Ethan had a summer internship as a Summer Associate in Quantitative Research at J.P. Morgan.
In 2017, they had a summer internship as a Quantitative Strategist at KCG Holdings, Inc. and later joined Citadel Securities as a Quantitative Researcher.

Xiaolei (Ethan) Chen obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from the University of Science and Technology of China from 2007 to 2011. Xiaolei (Ethan) then pursued a Master of Arts degree in Computational and Applied Mathematics from the University at Buffalo, which they completed from 2011 to 2013. Following that, they attended Stony Brook University and earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computational and Applied Mathematics from 2013 to 2017.
In addition to their formal education, Xiaolei also holds several certifications. In 2020, they became a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder from the CFA Institute and obtained the Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certification from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). Xiaolei (Ethan) further received the Alternative Investment Analyst Charter (CAIA Charter) from the CAIA Association in 2022.
