Volkan Unsal has a long and varied work history. Volkan began their career in 2008 as a Web Developer for Affinitive. In 2009, they moved to LBi IconNicholson as an Interface Engineer. In 2010, they co-founded Salvagr.com as CTO and also worked as a Software Engineer for Biomotion. In 2011, they became a Senior Software Engineer for Patch.com. In 2012, they worked as a Software Engineer for LUA Technologies. In 2015, they became Co-Founder and Lead Developer for Citiesense, Brigade Co-Captain for Code for America, and Software Engineer for FWD.us. In 2020, they began working as a Frontend Engineer for Amazon Web Services (AWS). Volkan also invented a cross platform workflow automation solution (CTI Flows) for Amazon Connect and created a UI builder (CTI Actions) to trigger CTI Flows on the Salesforce platform.

Volkan Unsal has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Baruch College, which they obtained between 1999 and 2004. Volkan has also obtained several certifications from Coursera and edX, including Algorithms: Design and Analysis, Part 2 (2013), Computer Networks (2013), Algorithms: Design and Analysis, Part 1 (2013), Coding the Matrix: Linear Algebra through Computer Science Applications (2013), A Beginner's Guide to Irrational Behavior (2013), Think Again: How to Reason and Argue (2013), Functional Programming Principles in Scala (2012), and Introduction to Logic (2012). Volkan also has certificates from edX for Introduction to Functional Programming and Scalable Machine Learning.
