Emily Guerin is a Public Defender's Investigator for the City and County of San Francisco, beginning in June 2025, after transitioning from a successful career in journalism. Previously, Guerin served as a Senior Producer and Correspondent at LAist from May 2016 to May 2025, where storytelling about California was a focus, including hosting the investigative podcast California City. Early experiences included roles at NPR, Inside Energy, and High Country News, covering environmental and energy issues and reporting on North Dakota’s oil boom. Additional roles encompassed producing daily newscasts at KVNF, teaching leadership at NOLS, and reporting on various topics for The Forecaster. Emily holds a BA in History and Environmental Studies from Bowdoin College.
