Miranda Austerman

Miranda Austerman is the Communications Manager at CITY OF BLUE SPRINGS. Miranda has over 10 years of experience in communications and public relations. Miranda has a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri.

Miranda began their career as a journalist, working as an assistant editor at the Lee's Summit Journal. In this role, they were responsible for writing and editing stories, taking photos, and layout design. Miranda also managed the journal's social media accounts.

In 2012, Miranda transitioned to working in public relations for the City of Lee's Summit. In this role, they were responsible for managing the city's internal and external communications, including its website and social media accounts. Miranda also organized outreach events and served as a media liaison and spokesperson for the city.

In 2018, Miranda took on their current role as Communications Manager at CITY OF BLUE SPRINGS. In this role, they are responsible for developing strategic communications plans and marketing campaigns utilizing a variety of media tools, public relations, and community outreach to communicate the value of water to the community.

Miranda Austerman has a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Central Missouri. Miranda is currently a political reporter for the New York Times.

They work with Jacqueline Sommer - City Attorney, Amy Willyard - Director, Human Resources, and Karen Van Winkle - Director, Finance. Their manager is Carson Ross, Mayor.
