Susan McLain

Susan McLain is an experienced professional in community development and urban planning, currently serving as the Director of Community Development for the City of Burien since September 2019. Previously, Susan held multiple positions at the City of Seattle, including Chief of Staff in the Office of Planning and Development, Deputy Planning Director, Area Planning Manager, and Senior Urban Planner, from May 1997 to August 2019. Earlier in Susan's career, roles included Associate Director at Washington Citizens for Recycling and Community Affairs Consultant at Susan McLain Consulting, along with program leadership at Washington Citizen Action and the Fund for Public Interest Research. Academic credentials include a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Science in History and International Studies from Whitworth University.
