A gynecologic oncologist at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), Phoenix, Dennis Scribner, Jr. is dedicated to caring for patients with gynecologic malignancies. He provides cancer treatment options to patients with gynecologic cancers including ovarian, cervical, uterine, vaginal and vulvar.
Dr. Scribner joined CTCA® in December 2021. A board-certified physician by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Scribner focuses on the needs of the whole patient. He treats all gynecologic cancers using numerous therapies, including chemotherapy and surgery. Dr. Scribner has a special interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotic surgery and is excited about the advancement of immunotherapies for cancer treatment.
Growing up, Dr. Scribner excelled in his science classes and grew to love the subject. He completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology at College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. He was the first person in his family to graduate from college. Dr. Scribner had a strong desire to help others and felt a calling to obtain his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut. While in medical school, Dr. Scribner’s mother-in-law was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and this initiated his interested in learning more about gynecologic oncology. Following medical school, he completed an internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. Dr. Scribner also completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He has worked in several healthcare settings prior to joining CTCA to focus on whole-person cancer care.
Dr. Scribner is an active member of several professional organizations including the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and American College of Surgeons. He is interested in clinical research and has been published in a variety of journals and publications. Dr. Scribner has also taught as a clinical associate professor at several colleges.
Outside of CTCA, Dr. Scribner loves spending time with his wife and four children. He leads a healthy lifestyle by exercising and focusing on proper nutrition. Dr. Scribner has completed multiple marathons, triathlons and Ironman competitions. He is also an active student of martial arts and has earned a black belt in Aikido.
