Mindy Kordash-Shim has a diverse work experience spanning from 2009 to the present. Mindy has held various roles within different organizations.
In 2009, Mindy worked as a Public Policy & Grant Research Assistant at Big Brothers Big Sisters. Mindy then joined Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service in 2010 as an Adult Education ESL Teacher.
In 2011, Mindy became a Teacher at Teach for America, where they stayed until 2013. Following that, they worked as a Student and Parent Affairs Manager at Bright Star Schools from 2013 to 2015.
From 2015 to 2018, Mindy served as a Primary Science/Spanish Teacher at KIPP LA Schools. In 2018, they took on the role of Director of Communications at Los Angeles Unified School District until 2022.
During the same period, Mindy also served as a Board of Directors member at Act To Change from 2018 to 2021. Mindy was also a Leadership For Educational Equity Policy and Advocacy Summer Fellow in 2018.
From 2019 to 2021, Mindy was a Board of Directors member at Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council.
Currently, Mindy is working at the City of Irvine as part of the Office of Irvine Vice Mayor, starting in 2023.
Mindy Kordash-Shim completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics, Philosophy, Economics & Hispanic Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. Mindy attended this institution from 2007 to 2011. Following their undergraduate studies, Mindy pursued further education and obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Urban Education and Leadership from Loyola Marymount University. Mindy completed their master's degree from 2011 to 2013.
