Richard Wood

Richard Wood, CEM CFPS CBO, currently serves as the Fire Marshal and Building Official for the City of Keene since April 2024. Wood has an extensive background in fire safety and code compliance, holding roles such as Contract Instructor and Vice Chairman of the International Existing Building Code Committee with the International Code Council since January 2012. Additionally, Wood has been a National Fire Academy Contract Instructor for FEMA and a Fire and Life Safety Consultant with FLS Risk Services LLC since November 2008. Prior experience includes significant leadership positions at the University of Massachusetts Lowell and the New Hampshire Fire Academy, where responsibilities encompassed emergency management and fire training curriculum development. Wood also contributed as a board member for the Milford School Board and held positions on the executive board of the NH Fire Prevention Society. Educational qualifications include a BS in Fire Service Education and Administration, an Executive Level Professional Certificate from the USFA National Fire Academy, and an AAS in Fire Science.
