Sonni Williams

Sonni Williams is an accomplished legal professional currently serving as the President of the Illinois State Bar Association, a role held since June 2023, and previously as President Elect. With extensive experience as City Attorney for the City of Lockport since June 2017, Sonni provides legal counsel to the City Council and represents the City in various legal matters. Prior to this, Sonni served as Deputy Corporation Counsel for the City of Peoria, specializing in civil rights cases and providing legal training on various regulatory matters. Sonni's involvement in the Peoria County Bar Association includes leadership on mentoring and diversity initiatives. Additional roles include serving as a commissioner for the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism and multiple positions within the Illinois State Bar Association, reflecting a strong commitment to integrity and professionalism in the legal field. Educational credentials include a Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Iowa.
