Max Phan has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering and public works. Max is currently working as the Assistant Public Works Director and City Engineer for the City of Marysville, WA since April 2022. Before that, they served as the City Engineer for the same city from January 2022 to May 2022.

Prior to their role in the City of Marysville, Max worked for Snohomish County, WA for many years. Max'sroles in Snohomish County included Engineering Manager in Program Planning & Environmental Services in the TES division from July 2017 to January 2022, Engineering Manager in the Design Group of Engineering Services from April 2015 to July 2017, Interim Co-Director of Engineering Services from July 2014 to April 2015, Engineering Manager in the Design Group of Engineering Services from February 2011 to July 2014, Public Works Supervisor in Design from March 2001 to February 2011, and Project Manager & Engineer in Design from March 1999 to March 2001.

Before joining Snohomish County, Max worked at Perteet Inc. as a Project Manager and Project Engineer in Design and Construction Management from October 1993 to March 1999.

Max Phan completed their education with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from Washington State University, which they attended from 1989 to 1992. Prior to that, they obtained an Associates in Science in Pre-Engineering from Edmonds College, where they studied from 1987 until 1989. In addition to their formal education, Max also earned a certification as a Professional Engineer from the institution of Washington State in September 1999.
