Suado Abdi has extensive work experience in the field of community development and planning. They began their career in 2010 as a Project Manager at the Greater Frogtown Community Development Corporation. In this role, they were responsible for managing projects aimed at improving the community.
In 2012, Suado joined the District Council Collaborative of St. Paul-MPLS as a Trusted Advocate. They served as a representative for the collaborative and advocated for the needs of the community.
They then moved on to work at the Metropolitan Consortium of Community Developers as a Charles R. Krusell Fellow from 2012 to 2013. This position involved working with various community development organizations and gaining valuable experience in the field.
Suado also worked at Hope Community, Inc. during this time as a Charles R. Krusell Fellow. They were involved in projects aimed at improving the community and gaining further experience in the field.
Since 2013, Suado has been with the City of Minneapolis, where they have held various roles. They started as a City Planner in the Zoning & Land Use department of the Community Planning and Economic Development (CPED) division. In this role, they were responsible for assisting with city planning and zoning projects.
They then transitioned to the role of Small Business Community Liaison at CPED in 2018. In this position, Suado served as a liaison between the city government and small businesses in the community, helping to facilitate their needs and address any concerns.
Currently, Suado holds the position of Real Estate Project Coordinator at CPED. They started in August 2021 and continue to contribute to real estate projects and initiatives in Minneapolis.

Suado Abdi completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Urban Studies from the University of Minnesota from 2008 to 2011. Following their undergraduate degree, they pursued a Master of Urban and Regional Planning with a focus on Housing, Community, & Economic Development from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs from 2012 to 2014.
