Max Upton, MPA, has extensive experience in community and economic development, currently serving as the Director of Community and Economic Development for the City of North Olmsted since January 2022. Prior roles include Director of Building, Housing and Planning, and Safety Service Director for the City of Lorain, where oversight of a $100 million budget and management of 450 employees was key. Upton has also held academic positions as an Adjunct Professor at Cleveland State University, focusing on Economic Development Finance, and has actively contributed to various development initiatives in the Cleveland area, including economic development efforts at MidTown Cleveland, Inc., and successful grant administration in Lorain County. A former Battalion Logistics Sergeant in the United States Army National Guard, Upton received multiple commendations for leadership and operational excellence. Upton holds a Master of Public Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Urban Economic Development from Cleveland State University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Public Management.
