John Mauro is an accomplished city manager and sustainability leader with extensive experience in government and policy. Currently serving as the City Manager of Port Townsend since August 2019, Mauro previously held notable positions such as Chief Sustainability Officer for Auckland Council, where strategic initiatives in sustainable transport, renewable energy, and green infrastructure were spearheaded. Mauro’s previous roles include Principal Transport Advisor at Auckland Council, Advancement Manager at AUT University, and Director of Policy, Planning and Government Affairs at Cascade, where significant legislative advancements were achieved. Early career experiences encompass climate policy analysis for the City of Seattle and leadership roles in various environmental organizations. Mauro holds a degree in Environmental Studies/Conservation Biology from Middlebury College.
