John Thompson, PE, CASp, CBO has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. John started their career as a Project Engineer at MATT Construction in June 1997. Later, in December 1997, they joined Young Engineering Services as a Senior Engineer and held this position until June 2016. From June 2016 to June 2022, John worked at the City of Rancho Cucamonga as a Senior Plans Examiner. Currently, they serve as the Chief Building Official at the City of Redlands, starting from June 2022.

John Thompson, PE, CASp, CBO attended California State Polytechnic University-Pomona from 1991 to 1997, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. In addition to their degree, they hold various certifications including Civil Engineer from the California Department of Consumer Affairs and Certified Access Specialist from the California Department of General Services. John is also certified as a California Building Plans Examiner, Certified Building Official, and Commercial Building Inspector by the International Code Council.
