Jay Melder

Jay Melder is an experienced city manager currently serving in the City of Savannah since September 2021. Prior to this role, significant positions included Assistant City Administrator for Internal Services and Chief of Staff for the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services with the DC Government from March 2015 to September 2021. Earlier experience includes Director of Communications and External Affairs at the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness, and consulting for the National Endowment for the Arts in literature and arts education. Melder holds an MFA in Creative Writing from American University and a BA in English from Louisiana State University. Additionally, an editorial achievement includes editing the galley of "Modern Poetry of Pakistan."
