Francisco Fernandez is the Assistant Chief of Police at the City of Sweetwater since June 2023, overseeing the Field Operations Division and serving as Emergency Manager. With a longstanding career at the City of Miami from April 1993 to June 2023, Francisco held various leadership roles including Major in the Specialized Operations Section, Commander for the South District/Coral Way, and Lieutenant in charge of Training at the Police Academy. Earlier positions included Sergeant in the Special Investigations Section and as a SWAT member, while starting as a Police Officer with roles in SWAT training and operations. Francisco also served in the United States Marine Corps from July 1984 to October 1990 as a Sergeant in Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 25th Marines. Academic credentials include a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration from Union Institute & University, completion of the FBI National Academy, Session 275, and participation in the PERF SMIP 69 program in July 2017.
