Ran Chen is a seasoned urban design professional with extensive experience in both academia and municipal planning. Currently serving as a Sessional Lecturer at Toronto Metropolitan University's School of Urban and Regional Planning since September 2024, Ran has also held the position of Senior Urban Designer for the City of Toronto since April 2013, where previous roles include Urban Designer. Prior experience includes working as an Urban Planner for the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and as an Urban Designer at Arup. Early career highlights feature positions as a Planning Consultant at RCh2 Urbanismo and a Junior Research Associate at the Environmental Simulation Centre. Ran Chen holds a Master of Science in City and Regional Planning from Pratt Institute and a Bachelor of Architecture from Universidad de Panamá.
