Nihal Jayawardene

Nihal Jayawardene is a prominent legal professional with extensive experience in both public sector and corporate governance. Currently serving as a Director at Hatton National Bank PLC since August 2021, as well as Chairman of the Company Law Advisory Commission and Board Member at the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka since December 2019, Nihal has also contributed as a Board of Governors member at the Asian Institute of Business & Science since August 2019 and as a Visiting Lecturer in Company Law at Sri Lanka Law College since 1996. Previously, Nihal held various significant roles, including Director at Hotel Developers (Lanka) PLC and Board Member at the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka. With a background as Senior State Counsel at the Attorney General's Department and active involvement in the Company Law reforms culminated in the Companies Act No. 07 of 2007, Nihal Jayawardene possesses a solid educational foundation, holding a Master's degree in Public International Law from UCL and qualifications as an Attorney at Law from Sri Lanka Law College.
